Contemporary artist Zoë Heath, welcomes you to her website of paintings, collage and prints.
I am constantly inspired by the ‘found’ object, along with the traces and marks left behind from their history and narrative. My process has involved finding, observing and documenting. Re-tracing the changes that each object has endured over time, I seek to maintain the intrigue often present when traces or found marks are revealed. The process of this ageing, its patina and how it effects the object, directly influences the surface quality I create in my work.
I work extensively on the layered surface of my paintings. Images and objects are transcribed and re-interpreted, often forming abstract marks. I then draw back into my prints, a whisper of a trace, a pin prick line marks the presence of an absentee and stitching binds the stories of these objects and images together as these elements are built up and then consciously eroded, partially obscuring or uncovering traces.
